Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before we start.

How projects work, where Velra fits and what to expect from the relationship.

Working with Velra

Who does Velra work best with?

Velra is best suited to established, growth-minded businesses whose brand, creative output or digital experience no longer reflects the quality of the organisation. We also consider earlier-stage businesses when the ambition, decision-making and available investment support a strategic engagement.

Are you based in Derby, and do you work with businesses elsewhere?

Yes. Velra is based in Derby and works with organisations across Derbyshire and throughout the UK. Local clients can combine in-person sessions with remote collaboration, while projects elsewhere follow the same structured process online.

What happens before a project begins?

We begin by understanding the business problem, audience, existing evidence, internal constraints and intended outcome. Velra then recommends a scope, delivery approach, responsibilities and measures of success before design or production starts.

What will our internal team need to contribute?

We need access to the people who understand the business, timely decisions and honest feedback. Depending on the engagement, your team may also provide existing research, content, technical access and approvals. Responsibilities and review points are agreed at the start so progress does not depend on guesswork.

Timing, Investment and Delivery

How long does a typical engagement take?

Timing depends on scope, content readiness, feedback and the number of stakeholders. A focused piece of work may take several weeks, while an integrated brand and digital engagement will take longer. We agree phases, responsibilities and a realistic delivery plan before work begins rather than applying one timeline to every project.

How is project investment determined?

Investment reflects the problem, scope, content, functionality, specialist involvement and level of strategic support required. The budget ranges in our enquiry form help us recommend a proportionate approach; they are not automatic rejection criteria. A written proposal confirms the exact inclusions, assumptions and payment schedule.

Can we begin with one focused phase?

Often, yes. A focused first phase can be sensible when it creates a complete, useful outcome and leaves a clear foundation for what follows. We will not compress an interdependent brand or digital transformation into an unrealistic package simply to meet a headline price.

Brand and Creative

Can you refresh an established brand without losing recognition?

Yes. We identify which elements still carry useful recognition and which now limit clarity, relevance or consistency. The result may be a strategic and visual evolution rather than a complete replacement, supported by a system your team can apply confidently.

Can brand strategy, identity and the website be delivered together?

Yes. When the same business change affects positioning, identity, messaging and digital experience, an integrated engagement is usually more coherent and efficient. We can establish the brand logic and apply it to the website and priority customer touchpoints through one connected process.

Websites and Digital Experience

Can you redesign an existing website while protecting its content and search equity?

Yes. We audit the existing experience, content, URLs and available performance data before deciding what should change. Useful material can be migrated, redirects are planned where URLs change, and the redesign addresses structure, accessibility, performance and conversion—not only appearance.

Do you support ecommerce and third-party integrations?

Yes, where they fit the project. We define the product, payment, fulfilment, account and reporting requirements before selecting a platform or integration. Payment security is handled through suitable providers and implementation practices; the exact responsibilities are documented in the scope.

What search and accessibility foundations are included?

Website projects include an appropriate technical foundation: crawlable server-rendered content, semantic structure, metadata controls, performance consideration and redirect planning where required. Accessibility is considered throughout design and development. Ongoing search strategy, content production or specialist compliance work is scoped separately when needed.

Website Support and Ongoing Care

Can Velra support campaigns and content after launch?

Yes. Velra can extend the brand or digital work into campaign thinking, social and advertising creative, content systems and ongoing optimisation. We define the channels, responsibilities and measures that matter rather than creating activity without a clear commercial purpose.

What is the difference between a project, ongoing partnership and embedded support?

A project has a defined outcome and scope. An ongoing partnership supports recurring creative, marketing or optimisation needs over time. Embedded support gives a team closer access to Velra capability for a sustained period. We recommend the model that matches the work rather than defaulting every client to a retainer.

What support is available after a website launches?

Support can include launch monitoring, maintenance, content changes, performance review and planned iteration. Hosting, domains and third-party services remain clearly documented so ownership and renewal responsibilities are understood. The appropriate support model is agreed before launch.
